If you’ve been following along, you know about the Minneapolis ACF Fundraising Dinner three weeks ago last Sunday was to raise money to send a small gang of chapter chefs to the ACF Regional Conference in St. Louis to take part in a cooking competition. Saint Agnes donated bread for the function, and it was a very memorable afternoon and evening watching the past Chefs of the Year prepare their courses for the meal. The night was a success, about 100 guests attended and $6,000 raised to send Chef Virgil Emmert and his team, their tools of the trade and ingredients to the four-day event that began yesterday.
You can follow the conference goings-on at the chapter’s Facebook page (they’ve already locked up one national award). You can also scroll down to see some of the food from that fundraiser dinner, which was as memorable as any other top-flight dining experience in the Twin Cities.
If these chefs throw another event like this fundraiser, be sure to attend. We shower our restaurant chefs with a lot of attention (and much of it deserved) but there’s a bounty of talent in Minnesota that works in many other foodservice venues, from country clubs to hotels to catering companies. This local ACF chapter is where many of them go to exchange ideas.
